COLLIE RESCUE ACTIVITIES

In addition to rescue work, COLLIE RESCUE offers counseling on grooming, housetraining or behavior problems. We also provide referrals for the purchase of puppies and older dogs from responsible, reputable breeders. Our fundraising events include participating as vendors at dog shows, an annual garage sale, tag day, Christmas and Tax Buster raffles, grooming, first aid and behavior seminars, and the on-going sale of our logo t-shirts, sweat shirts, mugs and dog bandanas.

Highlights From Past Events

Ligioner Highland Games

On September 10, Rescue once again joined the festivities at the Ligonier Highland Games at Idlewild Park as part of the Scottish Dog Exhibit. This annual event is one of Rescue's favorite promotions. We love showcasing our dogs' skills in the obedience and agility demonstrations, and talking to people about Collies. It's a great time for humans and Collies.

PEN DAY

Thanks to 16 hard-working volunteers and 12 Collies the donations from our Pen Day held early in May increased the Rescue health fund by almost $1,700. This was our best year ever. The weather was great and comfortable for the dogs, and the people of Pittsburgh were feeling generous. (who could resist those pretty and handsome Collie faces?) Our thanks to all who helped make this fundraiser a great success.

COLLIE FROLIC

The annual Collie Frolic, held every September, is a picnic open to all Collies and their owners regardless of whether the Collie was a rescue dog. The day includes games and contests, obedience and grooming demonstrations. a Canine Good Citizen test, and lots of good food, beautiful Collies, and friendly people. It is COLLIE RESCUE'S way of saying thank you to the people who support our work.

Membership in COLLIE RESCUE includes our newsletter, flyers of upcoming events, and an invitation to the Collie Frolic. Annual dues are $25.00.
